Emeryville, California, November 1, 2018 – Kincardine Offshore Windfarm Ltd. (KOWL) has confirmed that first power from the project offshore Kincardineshire, Scotland began flowing in September, clearing the way for the full 50 MW build-out of the project by 2020. Principle Power is pleased to participate in the project, with its WindFloat as the chosen floating offshore wind foundation.

“We are proud of the role Principle Power is playing in enabling the Kincardine project,” said Joao Metelo, Principle Power’s CEO. “Once complete, KOWL will be the world’s largest floating wind farm, achieving another major milestone for the industry. We’re very pleased that WindFloats have been chosen and are excited about the project.”

Principle Power’s WindFloat foundation allows offshore wind projects to be sited in locations with the most abundant wind resource, independent of water depth, while introducing new methodologies for installation and O&M that reduce risk, cost and environmental impact.

“This project clearly demonstrates the WindFloat’s ability to meet project needs, and how floating wind can be attractive to project developers in Europe and around the world,” said Mr. Metelo.

In addition to the Kincardine project, Principle Power is executing on other projects ranging from 25 to over 100 MW elsewhere in Europe, Asia and North America. These projects prove the bankability of the floating wind industry, while Principle Power develops its global multi-GW commercial pipeline.

About Principle Power Principle Power, www.principlepowerinc.com, founded in 2007, is a development, technology and services provider to the offshore wind industry. Principle Power’s innovative and proven technology, the WindFloat – a floating wind turbine foundation – provides access to transitional and deep-water offshore wind sites. By simplifying the way offshore wind is deployed, this unique technology assists the ongoing development of the offshore wind industry as whole, opens new deep water markets, and has the potential to substantially decrease the cost and risk profile of offshore wind projects. Principle Power, with offices in the USA, France and Portugal, sells the WindFloat as a technology solution and acts as a service provider to developers, independent power producers, and utilities engaged in the rapidly expanding global offshore wind market.
