Our headquarters in Emeryville, California, US will close on Thursday and Friday to celebrate the American Thanksgiving festivities. In the spirit of being thankful, Principle Power would like to recognize its entire global workforce, particularly for the commitment and resilience the team has shown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past nine months, despite the public health-related restrictions, our global team has managed to work seamlessly to meet key milestones and deliver on our commitments to our clients. Through this important work, we are laying the foundation for the decarbonisation of the energy sector, with many countries acknowledging the strong role that offshore wind has in helping to reach net-zero goals and contribute to the economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

In the summer, we commissioned our flagship Wind Float Atlantic project located 20km off the coast of Viana do Castelo, Portugal, and our teams continue to work in multiple locations in Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, as well as office and virtual locations, to deliver the Kincardine Offshore Wind project located 15km off the coast of Aberdeen, Scotland, which will be the largest floating wind farm in the world when completed next year.

“I am extremely proud of what our team has achieved this year. Our performance during the pandemic demonstrates the resilience of our business practice, which is supported by strong long-term industry dynamics, enabling us to maintain our commitment to customer service. We expect to emerge from this crisis stronger than before. I would like to thank all of our employees for their agility, continued dedication and hard work during the pandemic”, said João Metelo, Principle Power’s CEO.

Commenting on some of the challenges faced by the teams under COVID-19 restrictions, Chief Operating Officer Principle Power, Cornelius Druecker commented that "we have maintained confidence in each other by providing insights and adapting to these different circumstances, showing the momentum to deliver while prioritizing health at the same time. Principle Power has an outstanding team who continue to deploy the world’s leading floating offshore wind platforms".

“We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our client base, who have entrusted us to provide services ranging from concept designs through operations and maintenance, and on projects that span three continents. These projects represent the first industrial-scale floating projects in the world. We value greatly the collaborative approach to navigate the complex challenges of new markets and new site conditions all in a mostly virtual context” added Aaron Smith, Chief Commercial Officer, Principle Power.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our team and partners.
